Thorn MailScan sits between your e-mail server and the outside world,
scanning everything that passes through. You can use MailScan on
your own mail server or through Thorn's mail server. Either way,
no Internet e-mail will ever be delivered directly to your mail
server unless it is spam-free and virus-free.
| First, any incoming
e-mail is scanned for all known viruses, Trojans and worms using
multiple third party and custom anti-virus applications. Virus definitions
are updated hourly to ensure we also catch new viruses before there's
an outbreak. If a virus is detected, the infected e-mail is quarantined
for a thorough inspection. |
After being certified
virus-free, the e-mail goes through our rigorous 3-step Spam Scan
rule:
Blacklist comparison. The
e-mail is compared to Thorn's unique blacklist of known
spam offenders. This gives us complete control over what
e-mail we accept. And also ensures that legitimate senders
are not falsely identified.
Content analysis. The
message of the e-mail is then analyzed for text patterns
deemed as spam. When we catch spam, our database of spam
patterns is updated.
Rule-based scoring. For
the e-mail to be legitimate and not tagged as spam, it
must pass through certain rules. If an e-mail scores too
high, it has no chance to enter your inbox. |

| You can't stop spam
from coming or prevent virus outbreaks. But you can let Thorn MailScan
keep them from reaching you. To find out about other Thorn mail services,
